In Memoriam: Farewell to Freddie Walker, No3 Commando and Beds & Herts Regiment


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of life's gentlemen, Freddie Walker, aged 91.

Fred was in The Beds and Herts Regiment before volunterering for the Commandos and went into No3 Commando. He was on the Dieppe Raid in August 1942, took part in the invasion of Scilly and landed at SWORD beach on D-Day.

He was loved by all who knew him. It was an honour and a pleasure to have know you, sir.


Freddie's funeral service will take place at the Wren Chapel, Royal Hospital Chelsea, London SW3 4SR, at 2pm on Thursday 29 October 2015.

Parking is available at the Royal Hospital.

Please gather at the cafe at the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary (MTI) where you will be directed to the Wren Chapel for the service.
