Taxi Charity receives support from fellow service charities for National Lottery Award

A huge thank you to The Confederation of Service Charities (Cobseo), which includes Help for Heroes, Blind Veterans UK, ABF The Soldiers' Charity, RAF Benevolent Fund, SSAFA, The Royal British Legion, Blesma, Combat Stress and Officers' Association to name but a few, for supporting us in the National Lottery Awards.

Here's what was posted on the Cobseo website on 13 July 2016:

The London Taxi Benevolent Association for War Disabled reaches final of National Lottery Awards Cobseo member, The London Taxi Benevolent Association for War Disabled has reached the finals of this year’s National Lottery Awards and is appealing to other service charities to help them get as many public votes as possible. Help for Heroes has already urged supporters to vote for the Taxi Charity, which is run almost entirely by London cabbies who volunteer to provide outings, events and camaraderie to the capital’s war heroes. Last year, the Taxi Charity received £42,000 through the Big Lottery Fund to take 120 veterans to the Netherlands to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Holland. Beating off competition from over 600 organisations to reach the public voting stage in the annual awards to find the UK’s favourite lottery-funded projects, the Taxi Charity is the only service charity to reach this year’s final. If they win, they will get a £3,000 cash prize, a trophy and the chance to attend a glitzy awards ceremony which will be broadcast on BBC One in September. It would be a fantastic reward for everyone who volunteers for the charity as well as recognition for the veterans, for them to know the public still remembers and respects what they went through. How Cobseo members can help The charity is running a social media campaign to encourage voting – please could you consider following the charity on Facebook and Twitter and share/retweet posts, as Help for Heroes have done already.

Please share in any posts the link to the Lottery Good Causes website for voting http://www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/project/london-taxi-benevolent-association-war-disabled Voting is open now and runs until midnight on Wednesday 20 July.
