Taxi Charity organises veterans flying day at Damyns Hall Aerodrome

Veterans Flying Day

On 21 September 2017, volunteer drivers from the Taxi Charity escorted a number of military veterans, including its own veteran collectors, several veterans from Headley Court DMRC and some from Blesma, to Damyns Hall Aerodrome.

The day started at 08:30 with a breakfast of tea, coffee and bacon rolls, followed by a safety briefing then flights in light aircraft and a microlight.

THANK YOU NOTE FROM VETERAN

Dear Taxi Charity,

I would like to thank you for the Flying Day on Thursday. It was amazing and I know everyone who I chatted to had a great day.

All of your people were great and made me feel very welcome and “Mr Carey” - I've forgotten his first name (but don’t tell him!!!! 😀🙈) - helped me get around so enabling me to do more.

As an ex serviceman with a disability I think we tend to shut ourselves away sometimes or only mix with like-minded people. Your organisation offers a chance to mix and take part in fantastic and otherwise unattainable activities and it certainly showed me just how capable I can be and how generous people are with their time.

All the volunteer drivers didn’t have to be there but they were and for that I thank you all.

Please pass my thanks on to the pilots too and the lady organising lunch etc but most of all, again, to your charity and the opportunities and experiences you are offering to veterans.

Thankyou 😀

If I can help in any way I would be more than delighted.

Regards,

Mark Sidwells ex RAF
