Today we said farewell to Edward 'Ted' Pieri - an Airborne Warrior of Market Garden, Norway and Palestine. Ted joined the 1st Airborne division in 1943. Although initially a despatch rider, he volunteered for parachute training and qualified getting his wings.
Ted, who lived in Erith, Kent, was a huge supporter of the Taxi Charity - in the last few years he did several parachute jumps to fundraise for the charity - and he was a much-loved regular on our trips and outings.
Sleep well soldier. You will be missed.
