This is a seminal moment in the 73-year history of the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans.

We have won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest honour a UK voluntary organisation can receive – the equivalent of an MBE.

This year special consideration was given to those nominees who reacted effectively and positively during the Covid pandemic.

In recognition of our achievement, the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London will present the Taxi Charity with an engraved crystal award with the QAVS insignia.

The citation will read:

Providing social events and commemorative trips for veterans to combat loneliness and isolation.
‘with special recognition - Covid 19'

We will also receive a certificate signed by Her Majesty The Queen.

I am very proud of what we achieved despite the numerous challenges we faced during this most difficult of years.

By "we", I am of course referring to all our volunteers who generously give up their time and work so hard to keep this charity running and who ensure our veterans are never forgotten.

My thanks to you all for helping us win this prestigious award.

Ian Parsons
