Taxi Charity escorts veterans to Hever's Home Front

On Saturday 22 June, a fleet of London taxis, driven by volunteer cabbies, took veterans from London and the South East to the Home Front event at historic Hever Castle in Kent.

The taxis assembled in Edenbridge before forming a convoy to drive the last few miles to Hever.

The taxis were met at Hever by cheering crowds and a group of Home Guard re-enactors.

Following a lovely cream tea and a chance to look around the event, the veterans were treated to a performance of war time songs by The Fifinellas, including We’ll Meet Again, Lambeth Walk and Pack up your Troubles.

The veterans were filmed by ITV Meridian and BBC South East for the Saturday evening local news TV bulletins.
