On 31 August, volunteer cabbies from the Taxi Charity escorted a number of veterans and their carers to the Netherlands to take part in the Airborne Wandeltocht, a march that takes place every year in remembrance of the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944.
This event always takes place on the first Saturday in September at Oosterbeek near Arnhem.
Here's an overview of their itinerary:
Thursday 31 August - Overnight ferry to Hook of Holland
Friday 1 September - Reception at the Ambassador's residence in The Hague
Saturday 2 September - Our veterans attended the Wandeltocht Airborne March and 20 Taxi Charity volunteers and supporters walked a 15km section of the route
Sunday 3 September - Visits to Oosterbeek Cemetery in the morning and Reichswald Forest War Cemetery in the afternoon.
Monday 4 September - Returned to Hook of Holland for the ferry
