We are delighted that our greatly missed patron, Dame Vera Lynn, was honoured with a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey on Monday 21 March.
The Service was conducted by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle.
Alan Titchmarsh MBE gave a personal remembrance; Jonathan Dimbleby and Anthony Andrews gave tributes; and Glenys Creese, Executive Manager of the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, read a letter of thanksgiving.
Sir Tim Rice read 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11 and Dame Vera’s friend, Susan Fleet, read Goodnight Sweetheart.
Wartime singing group, The D-Day Darlings, performed one of Dame Vera Lynn's signature songs, The White Cliffs of Dover.
